Tony Chen's new song: The Journey

When I was in high school, I had seen a famous movie called Forrest Gump, in which the hero of the movie Forrest Gump, starring Tom Hanks said this statement:

My momma always said, "Life, was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get."

I think it’s a vivid statement, but I feel that life is not limited to just a box of chocolates. Chocolate is generally very tasty. Actually, there is a lot of bitterness and falls in life too, which may not be suitable to be described as like  chocolate. Should we compare life with a bitter gourd then? …. “Life is often like bitter gourd, and sigh, you ALWAYS know it is time to suffer again!”:P

However, the key depends on how you treat bitterness. If we are able to treat bitterness as something good, aren’t we residing with happiness all the time then? The hardships we endure are actually parts of our growing process. In this case, it can be described as like chocolate – if we treat every bitter moment as something good, then I believe that we are filled with chocolate throughout this life time.

Indeed, sometimes in life, although we know the direction and guiding principles (positive ones) for the things that happen to us, the future remains unknown. You do not know what will be brought upon yourself, good or bad, but we still need to move forward. We may experience many hardships in the process but as long as we stick to it, perhaps there will be an entirely different story later on.

I am often inspired by the quote below by Mr. Li Hongzhi in his book Zhuan Falun:
When you are overcoming a real hardship or tribulation, you try it. When it is difficult to endure, try to endure it. When it looks impossible and is said to be impossible, give it a try and see if it is possible. If you can actually do it, you will indeed find: "After passing the shady willow trees, there will be bright flowers and another village ahead!"

The above is my personal understanding that have given me inspirations for one of my latest music compositions, called “The Journey". The piece describes such life experiences and meanings.

It is in Yanni's musical style – New Age Contemporary Instrumental Music. Hope it can be an inspiration to every one of you! J
